Dispenser new

A candy cannon (also well known as a dispenser) is one of the secondary elements in Candy Crush Saga. It releases liquorice swirls, candy bombs, sugar keys, or other elements to the board when the candies below it are removed. It is a transparent sphere with an opening. Inside, there will either be a liquorice swirl, candy bomb, or sugar key depending on what it is releasing. Sometimes, a cannon might have both or even three items. Cannons in high levels can also dispense mystery candies, chameleon candies, extra time candies, and special candies.

Liquorice swirl cannons and ingredient cannons are introduced in the 16th episode Crunchy Castle, level 216. They are not common until candy bomb cannons are introduced in the 19th episode Holiday Hut, level 261. Candy bomb cannons used to be introduced unofficially in level 221, but during September–October the level was revamped and the candy bomb cannon was removed.

In the 137th episode Cavity Cave, more types of cannons were released, including types that spawn lucky candies and mystery candies in levels 2032 and 2034, respectively. Extra time candy cannons were introduced in Tricky Tracks (the following episode) at the time of its release. This was before the removal of timed levels, however.

The 142nd episode, Treacle Retreat doesn't feature new elements spawning from candy cannons but it does feature the first candy cannon which can spawn three different items since level 600. Also, chameleon candy cannons are introduced in Gumball Gorge, in level 2198. They appear unofficially in level 2181, though the cannons in said level can spawn bombs in addition to chameleon candies. thus making level 2198 the first level with candy cannons which can exclusively spawn chameleon candies.

Two new elements start spawning from cannons, starting in Glittery Grove. These are striped candies and wrapped candies. Striped candy cannons formerly spawned both horizontal and vertical stripes, as opposed to Candy Crush Soda Saga and Candy Crush Jelly Saga where they are divided into horizontal and vertical stripes. Following a recent revision, the same now applies to this game.

Wrapped candies are the last element to be dispensed from cannons on Flash version. Also, liquorice swirl + wrapped candy cannon is the last one on the Flash version. However, more cannon combinations on the HTML5 version continue to appear (i.e. liquorice swirl, mystery candy and chameleon candy dispenser).

Waffles are not only an element that can only be dispensed from cannons on the HTML5 version, but it is the first element exclusive to the said version that can be dispensed from cannons.

Recently, older levels have been nerfed to have these cannons as well. Therefore, these levels are the first official appearances of these cannons.

Beware that some of the candy cannons will also dispense common candies, while others do not.

Properties[]

  • Candy Cannons are considered part of the board design, and change the way new candies spawn above a given tile.
  • Candy Cannons cannot be disabled directly but can be blocked by blockers directly below.
  • If the respective element is cleared, the candy cannons will stop producing the special element.
  • Certain Candy Cannons may be invisible. For example, some old levels could spawn mystery candies and chameleon candies at fixed columns out of nowhere.
  • Technically, anywhere that normal candies spawn can be considered as a candy cannon which does not have assigned elements, such that they could never spawn special candies.
  • Candy Cannons were originally intended to serve as an additional obstacle as they frequently spawn unfavourable elements such as liquorice swirls and candy bombs.

Trivia[]

  • Chocolate Barn and Delicious Drifts do not have any levels that contain candy bomb cannons. It wasn't until after Holiday Hut that candy bomb cannons began to appear.
  • Candy cannons at times can be annoying, especially liquorice swirl and candy bomb cannons.
  • Ingredients cannons have a cherry icon, but it may also spawn hazelnuts (formerly) or not spawn cherries at all.
  • Some cannons can produce both liquorice swirls and candy bombs. Levels 269 and 500 are examples of this.
  • This item can make some levels much harder. For example, candy bomb cannon is one of the reasons why level 425 is so hard and liquorice cannon is one of the reasons why level 410 is so hard.
  • Liquorice cannon will drop as many liquorice swirls as possible every single turn. The only way to stop them from falling is to get three candies in a row next to an already-dropped liquorice swirl. This will prevent the onslaught. The level with non-working liquorice swirl cannons is level 564 as there is no liquorice swirl being dispensed at all.
  • Level 600 is the first level whose cannon can dispense three types of items (ingredients, liquorice swirls, and candy bombs). The next one isn't until level 2112, where the cannons can spawn liquorice swirls, candy bombs and mystery candies.
  • Formerly, there had never been a level with cannons that can spawn more than three elements all at once. This changed with the horizontal/vertical striped candy split in August 2018, since horizontal stripes and vertical stripes are considered separately. The cannon in level 3359 can dispense liquorice swirls, horizontal striped candy, vertical striped candy and wrapped candy. Cannons that could spawn four completely different elements were introduced in level 4527.
    • The cannon in level 8674 spawns ingredients, liquorice swirls, candy bombs and sugar keys. These are the first four candy cannon elements in chronological order.
    • In an update during March 2021, cannons that spawn more than three items will rotate the symbols, similar to the cannons in other saga games.
  • In some levels, ingredients cannons are considered useless as the required ingredients are already on the board (like the old versions of levels 259, 287, 348, 409, 439, and 754). The cannon only dictates where the initial ingredient will be present, as starting most ingredients levels, a set amount of ingredients will be spawned on the top of the board.
  • Occasionally on the web version, the ingredient cannon may be glitched and release more ingredients than it's supposed to.
    • However, in Candy Crush Friends Saga, one of the sequel games, there is a type of "Cookie level" where the goal is to drop cookies into the chocolate area of board, much like the Ingredients level. In this case, the candy cannons do drop more Cookies than necessary, depending on the board settings.
      • These extra cookies also score points. Some levels require extra cookies to reach three stars.
  • There is supposed to be a type of hidden cannons that dispense mystery candies along with other stuff. This could be seen in levels 549 and 562 where they spawn if there are enough candy bombs on the board.
    • Another example is level 938 where, on the right half of the board without visible dispensers, candy bombs and mystery candies spawn, but on the left half of the board with bomb cannons, only bombs spawn, but not mystery candies.
    • This type of hidden cannons may have made level 1317 much easier than its previous form. Before, there were visible cannons which only spawn swirls and bombs, which were noxious against the orders. In the remake, the visible cannons are probably replaced by these hidden cannons, so that it is easier to find special candies for orders.
    • Visible mystery candy cannons appear in level 2034.
  • It is supposed that a cannon without labelling a certain type of blockers will not dispense that blocker. For example, pure candy bomb dispensers never spawn liquorice swirls, even if there are other cannons that do the job in the same level.
  • A variation of level 1535 on mobile is fixed from impossible to playable, by adding an ingredient dispenser at correct location.
  • Candy cannons also appear in the sequels Candy Crush Soda Saga, Candy Crush Jelly Saga and Candy Crush Friends Saga. In these games, the types of dispensing special candies appear earlier than in this game.
    • Since candy flows may be modified by board settings like soda, some of the said cannons can dispense upwards, or even in four directions.
    • In this game, special candy dispensers start to appear in the level 2346 (striped and wrapped at the same time), 4946 (colour bomb) and 5352 (jelly fish), a long time after those games do.
    • The only cannons that can dispense in other directions in this game are rainbow rapid cannons.
  • The coloured elements that spawn from the cannons used to be colour-coded differently. For sugar key cannons and candy bomb cannons the element on the front is pink. For the cannon features introduced in 2016 (lucky candies, mystery candies and chameleon candies) the element on the front is rainbow-coloured. For striped candy, wrapped candy, and jelly fish cannons the element on the front is once again pink.
    • As of 11 December 2020, the cannon icons have been changed. All of the coloured elements now have dark pink icons (except chameleon candies), the striped candy, wrapped candy and jelly fish icons also have a slightly different look.
  • There had never been a candy cannon which can spawn both lucky candies and another element from the same cannon, until level 2150 (which contains cannons which spawn both lucky candies and liquorice swirls). At the time the other five elements which can spawn from candy cannons (ingredients, liquorice swirls, sugar keys, candy bombs, mystery candies) all have at least one cannon where they are the only element can spawn and at least one cannon where they can spawn from the same cannon as other elements prior to said level.
  • As of the release of Swirly Steppes, lucky candy, mystery candy and chameleon candy cannons now have a new design (as well as extra time candy cannons at the time).
  • There are currently 26 elements which can be spawned in a cannon (liquorice swirls, cherries, hazelnuts, candy bombs, sugar keys, lucky candies, horizontal striped candies, vertical striped candies, wrapped candies, one-layered toffee swirls, two-layered toffee swirls, three-layered toffee swirls, four-layered toffee swirls, five-layered toffee swirls, colour bombs, jelly fish, one-layered sugar coats, two-layered sugar coats, three-layered sugar coats, rainbow rapid, all six candy colours and Gummi Dragons); let this be the set E. Hence, the set of elements a candy cannon can spawn is a subset of E.
  • Waffles were the first multilayered blocker to be dispensed from candy cannons (formerly three-layered ones only, later levels can have any waffle type). The next multilayered blocker that can spawn from candy cannons is sugar coats. After that, waffles were changed to toffee swirls.
  • Lucky candy cannon is the only one out of the ones officially introduced since Cavity Cave to not be unofficially introduced in earlier levels due to redesigning. All other cannons have since been unofficially introduced at some point; mystery candies in level 683, both striped candies and wrapped candies in level 1910, chameleon candies in level 432, extra time candies (before they were removed) in level 1628, waffles in level 476 and specific striped candies (i.e. only horizontal or vertical, not both at the same time) in level 3718.
  • This is one of very few elements to be released across multiple years. Candy cannons themselves were first introduced in 2012 and more specific cannons were introduced in subsequent years. The timeline of candy cannons is as follows:
    • 2012: Candy cannons in general, liquorice swirl cannon, ingredient cannon, candy bomb cannon.
    • 2014: Sugar key cannon. Also, the year when a cannon that spawns three elements was released.
    • 2016: Lucky candy cannon, mystery candy cannon, extra time candy cannon, chameleon candy cannon. As of 2021, all but the first are defunct, due to their respective elements being removed from the game.
    • 2017: General striped candy cannon and wrapped candy cannon.
    • 2018: Waffle (now toffee swirl) cannon, horizontal striped candy cannon, vertical striped candy cannon, extra moves candy cannon (now defunct).
    • 2019: Colour bomb cannon, jelly fish cannon, sugar coat cannon. Also, the year when a cannon that spawns four elements was released.
    • 2020: Rainbow rapids cannon (top, bottom, left, right). Also, waffle cannons could spawn any layer of waffles.
    • 2021: Toffee swirl cannon, specific colour candy cannon (all 6 colours).
    • 2022: Countdown crystal cannon (for some players, currently not in the game).
    • 2023: Gummi dragon cannon.
  • Candy cannons have always appeared on empty spaces, until level 6636, where they appear on tiles for the first time. The unreleased version of Level 2045 also had this briefly.
    • Sometimes certain board layouts might be glitched that candies could spawn at non-border locations. This may indicate that a candy cannon in board code is actually a line between tiles.
  • The design of candy cannons was changed on 23rd March 2020. The new design has a white sphere instead of a clear-coloured sphere and the handle is gold instead of silver.
  • Formerly, candy cannons could only appear on the top of a tile. This was because, unlike the sequel games, candies only ever fall downwards, while the sequel games have different candy flows. With the release of Rainbow Rapids levels, there are candy cannons that can appear on any of the four sides of a tile (though this only applies to rainbow rapids cannons).
  • Rainbow rapids cannons behave differently to all other cannons. They are a teal colour instead of white, no other elements can spawn from rainbow rapids cannons (regular cannons can have multiple items spawning from them), they can appear on any of the four cardinal directions (as mentioned above) and they disappear once the corresponding rainbow rapids reach the mold, while regular cannons are permanent throughout the entire level.
    • However, rainbow rapids cannons can occupy the same space as another cannon (such as in level 7166), in which case it will appear invisible, due to appearing behind the other cannon.
    • In Level 8299, multiple rainbow rapid cannons can occupy the same empty space for the first time.
  • Visible candy cannons currently have a total of 23 different tilemap codes.

    • The ingredients cannon has the icon changed from hazelnut to cherry.
  • A blog post about specific colour candy cannons was released on 18 May 2021.
  • As of 2023, there is a game-breaking bug that stops ingredient/gummi dragon-dispensing candy cannons short of dispensing the very last ingredient or gummi dragon needed to complete a level. This has frustrated many players and broken well-established win streaks.
